My work reflects my concerns for the fragility of life in the twenty-first century. Life on earth is an intricate web. I am particularly interested in similarities found throughout the natural world supporting my understanding of that. Such as the branching dendritic patterns found in our body’s lungs, vascular system and brain neurons that are also found in plants, minerals and carved by water on the earth’s surface. These repeating visual patterns seem to point to a common framework that we are all constructed from. I find that common thread fascinating and comforting. I draw inspiration for my paintings and sculptures from these frameworks, juxtaposing dendritic patterns with the vulnerable creatures that are often associated as indicators of environmental health, birds and fish. I hope my work communicates to its viewers my reverence for life.

I design modern furniture and woodworks using locally sourced hardwoods when possible. My designs are influenced by a variety of sources but I particularly enjoy contemporary Danish furniture as well as designs by Nakashima and Sam Maloof.
